‘Marvellous’
Gwinear’s record show
DESCRIBED as “an excellent day out”
by organisers and visitors alike. the
Gwinear Agricultural Association
Annual Show benefitted from some
fine weather, and attracted a record
gate, despite the rival attraction of
Trevithick Day.
Show president Mr Steven Eva said at the
end of the day that he was very pleased with
the way the event had run. It’s been going
very well, we have had a lot of very good
competitors in the different classes and of
course the weather has helped.
The event changes its site every year
while staying in the Gwinear area and Mr
Eva said that this year’s had been a marvel-
lous choice.
Certainly the large field at Roseworthy
Barton enabled the public to visit each
section with ease, or to watch main ring
events while relaxing in the sunshine.
It has been a marvellous year said Mr
Eva and treasurer Mr Edward Pascoe con-
firmed that the amount of people actually
visiting the show had risen by us much as 25
percent “We attract a wide range of people
so I think that perhaps some visitors may
have gone to Trevithick Day and then come
here. ” he said.
He added that the show had come a long
was since it started as a donkey race in the
18th century, and said he was sure that the
appeal of the event was still very much
alive, which would account for the high
attendance.“
It has been profitable for a number of
years now, but this year has been a tremen-
dous success he said.
